Manitoba Government consultations on Electronic Logging Devices

February 18, 2020

Manitoba is consulting with affected stakeholders on the use of Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) in Manitoba. Transport Canada is mandating the use of ELDs via the federal Commercial Vehicle Drivers Hours of Services Regulations starting in June 2021. The Manitoba Driver's Hours of Service Regulation adopts the federal regulation by reference, with some exceptions.

Manitoba will assess how best to respond to the federal regulatory changes. In particular, how should Manitoba apply the federal regulation to carriers who operate only within Manitoba’s borders? We would like your input as we explore possible options and develop a plan for moving forward.
