KAP would like to welcome Derrick Owusu-Kodua as our new policy analyst. Prior to joining KAP, Derrick was the international research officer at the Department of Agriculture and Resources Economics, University of Saskatchewan, working on Global Affairs Canada’s funded agricultural project.
Derrick previously held the role of policy and producer relations with the Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission, and before that was the research analyst for the Western Grains Research Foundation in Saskatchewan.
Derrick was raised on the family farm in western Africa, Ghana. At some stage in his teenage years, between assisting with the management of his parent’s mixed farm and volunteering to help other small-scale farm businesses maximize the opportunities in the agribusiness sector, Derrick decided to pursue his career in agricultural economics.
He holds a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Saskatchewan and a Diploma Specialist in Economics with Distinction from the Russian Federation. Derrick’s penchant for agriculture as well as his experience in agricultural policy analysis and advice, and working with farmers for over 7 years shaped his interests to continue building his career in policy research and development with KAP.
