Jill Verwey, along with her husband Ray, is part of a three-generation family mixed farm near Portage la Prairie, including 6000 acres of grains and oilseeds, a Charolais beef herd and a dairy operation. She is responsible for the financial and environmental plans for the farm in addition to overseeing the management of each of the farm operations. Prior to becoming vice-president for KAP in 2018, Jill was an active member of District 6. She has also encouraged her adult children to get involved in KAP. In the past, Jill was active taking part as a committee member for the Dairy Farmers’ of Manitoba, and continues to take part in the DFM annual forum discussing policy and issues affecting Manitoba dairy farmers. She is also a long-time member of the Portage Co-op board of directors and the Portage District Hospital Foundation board of directors. She is actively involved in the Portage la Prairie curling club as well. Jill is a graduate of the agriculture diploma course from the School of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba, with a major in livestock and a focus on farm management.
