Due to regulatory changes individuals wishing to obtain a Class 1 licence are required to complete Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT).

Farmers may be eligible for MELT funding under the Canada-Manitoba Workforce Tariff Response Program.

Government may cover up to 100 percent of MELT tuition. Conditions do apply. KAP recommends that farmers review the eligibility requirements and apply early.

Another possible funding stream involves the 244-hour professional truck driving course. Certain requirements exist, and KAP recommends that farmers contact their local Manitoba Jobs and Skills Development Centre to determine their eligibility.
