Due to regulatory changes individuals wishing to obtain a Class 1 licence are required to complete Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT).

There is currently uncertainty with funding availability through the Government of Manitoba. MELT was previously funded under the Canada-Manitoba Job Grant, but this program has been discontinued. KAP is presently seeking clarity around alternative funding streams and will continue to advocate for MELT funding.

Farmers may be eligible for funding for the 244-hour professional truck driving course. Certain requirements exist, and KAP recommends that farmers contact their local Manitoba Jobs and Skills Development Centre to determine their eligibility.
