Resolved, that KAP support efforts by the Government of Manitoba to improve the ability of Manitoba’s farmers and ranchers to improve biosecurity, including support for Bill 62 (The Animal Diseases Amendment Act) and Bill 63 (The Petty Trespass Amendment and Occupiers’ Liability Amendment Act).
Update
In early 2020, KAP organized a joint letter involving Manitoba agricultural groups. The letter outlined concerns about rural crime and biosecurity risks to the Ministers of Justice and Agriculture. Shortly after our letter, the Government of Manitoba introduced bills 62 and 63. The bills received royal assent and aim to strengthen protections against biosecurity breaches and reduce trespassing on farms.
