Interprovincial trade barriers have been a long-standing concern for Manitoba farmers. And the rise of US tariffs has motivated both federal and provincial governments to reduce internal trade barriers. The federal government passed the Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act in June 2025.

KAP provided comments to the federal government about the new Act. While we support the Act, we also want government to ensure that any regulatory changes do not negatively affect Canada’s international trading relationships.
